Musk is trolling you again

There is a method to this madness.

The planet is now awash with news and social media posts about Elon Musk sieg heiling during the inauguration rally of Donald Trump, with the people on the opposite political spectrum getting into a flurry of self-righteous outrage and clutching their pearls. On the other hand, his fanbase is busy gaslighting everyone with talk about how “it was taken out of context” and “everyone is doing it, so why can’t he?”. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a bunch of X accounts busy explaining how Musk was simply doing some shoulder exercises and is a victim of paranoid, malicious libtards that see imaginary Nazis everywhere.

Hats off to Musk, he did it again – generated a worldwide buzz and galvanized his spiteful alt-right base. See, what he and the rest of the modern populists and far-right movements across the developed world are doing is NOT counterproductive. Conventional wisdom, which is usually referred to as “common sense”, tells us that mimicking freakin’ Hitler will get you immediately disqualified from the public discourse, damage your reputation, drive away customers, and in general bring a plague o’ your house.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Ever since its inception in the dark corners of the internet, the alt-right movement, before moving into the mainstream as MAGA or AfD or whatever, used trolling as an inflammatory tactic to galvanize its own followers. They don’t care what centrists or leftists think about it, as long as they get triggered enough to foam at the mouth at the “neo-Nazi threat” so they can invade the public space.

Swasticar Elon Musk

Jewish Space Lasers and They’re Eating the Dogs, They’re Eating the Cats nonsense isn’t a proof-positive of the right’s stupidity, and it’s not exactly chasing away their voters, because ideologically speaking, their base revels in “owning the libs”, and the “libs” always fall for the trap of endlessly debating why there are no Jewish space lasers out there and how migrants ain’t gonna eat your pets, exhausting themselves in the process.

So what can you do about it?

Repeat after me: Musk sux.

“But hey that’s rude!”, I hear you say.

Not exactly. See, if Space Karen can redefine decency by doing fascist salutes on camera or butting into European elections, anyone having a problem with that should redefine decency on their own by simply acknowledging that now a different set of rules applies when speaking about Orbans, Ficos, Le Pens, and Trumps of this world.

Don’t play nice, neither do they. And don’t care about their opinion, they don’t care about your opinion, feelings, or well-being. You don’t owe them an explanation for your attitude towards their politics and actions.
