So some of you have probably seen this X post: “Newsmax Polska, a right-wing TV channel, is set to launch in Poland later this year.
It will operate under Newsmax Balkans, owned by Telekom Srbija, which is majority-controlled by the Serbian state and partly financed by Sberbank Serbia, the regional arm of Russia’s state bank.”
It’s disinfo. Maybe a well-meaning disinfo (go team, and all that jazz), but still useless and counterproductive.
The owner of Newsmax Balkans is Christopher Ruddy, it is an affiliate of the US Newsmax Media.
Telekom Srbija (Telecom Serbia) is a cable network provider, as in, it has the Newsmax Balkans channel in its packages offered to users.
Sberbank also has nothing to do with any of this. Serbian AIK Banka, now AikBank, bought Sberbank Serbia back in 2021, and the deal was finalized in 2022.
This all could have been avoided with a JFGI.
Anyway, I wish for Newsmax Polska to have the same “success” as in Serbia, which was already shut down once, when they were partnered with United Media and were called Newsmax Adria.
As for Newsmax Balkan, its program is what you would imagine – alt-right stuff best watched with a full hazmat suit, or better yet – complete set of body armor.
